Shocking videos showing the brutality with which Hong Kong police are repressing pro-democracy demonstrations are going viral on social networks giving visibility to the massive civil rights movement occupying the streets of the city since this summer.

Protests began in earnest in June following the announcement of a bill that would allow Hong Kong citizens to be extradited for trial to mainland China under the opaque judicial system of Beijing’s communist regime.

Millions of people took to the streets peacefully calling for the complete suppression of the bill, which was finally withdrawn in September.

However, confidence in the current government’s independence from Beijing’s communist regime was greatly undermined and protesters are now demanding the resignation of Carrie Lam, chief executive of Hong Kong, and the holding of free and fair elections in Hong Kong.

The citizens of Hong Kong, a special region that enjoys a democratic system inherited from its British protectorate days, are seeing their freedoms eroded and suppressed by the Chinese Communist Party regime’s control over Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam.

Over the course of many weeks there have been more and more violent clashes on the streets of the special region by individuals believed to be acting under the orders of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the police who began to violently repress the protests and stop hundreds of activists.

In recent weeks the brutality with which Hong Kong police have been repressing public demonstrations has intensified considerably to the point that on Monday a police officer shot an unarmed young demonstrator at point-blank range in the middle of the street.

Another video released Tuesday by the pro-democracy activist organization Demosisto shows police spraying a pregnant woman’s face with pepper spray, then throwing her to the ground and beating her.

This other recording shows how a teenager cries after being hit with a ball in the eye.

Demosisto also warned of the brutal attacks taking place on Tuesday at the University of Hong Kong, a scenario that is dangerously reminiscent of the bloody repression of Chinese students at Tiananmen in Beijing.

“Police staged war at university,” said young Wong.

“Police advanced CUHK firing Tear Gas and multiple Rubber Bullet despite Principal Rocky Tuan’s attempted negotiation,” wrote Joshua Wong, representative of the activist organization on Twitter.

Wong said the university has been besieged by police who have arrested, shot, and beaten the students.

“The Honk Kong government is murdering students,” the young activist denounced on Twitter.
