A Queensland man who lost his home in the recent North NSW bushfires was shocked to find he had won the lottery—$1 million.
The man is from Mount Cotton, but during last year’s bushfires lost his family home in northern NSW.
With the win from last night’s Gold Lotto draw, he will now rebuild.
“This is amazing,” he said when he was told of his lucky win.
“My family just lost their home in the bushfires in northern NSW and it wasn’t insured.”
The anonymous man was the only winner of Division One, with the million-dollar take home prize.
“This is a miracle,” he said.
The man bought the ticket online using his wife’s “special numbers”.
Over the past few weeks alone, more than 500 homes have been destroyed in the bushfires.
