China is about to set a dangerous precedent. They plan to change the word of God, twisting words and meanings to suit their communist ideals. In a crackdown on religion in the country, the government is going to rewrite the Bible and Quran and other religious texts.
Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is trying to control the thought of its citizens even more than they already do by dictating what they can and can’t believe. Censored paragraphs will be amended or given a different translation. The party is demanding a ‘comprehensive evaluation of the existing religious classics aiming at contents, which do not conform to the progress of the times.’
The Committee for Ethnic and Religious Affairs of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference held a meeting in November. Chairman of the group Wang Yang instructed the group of 16 experts and religious representatives from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to follow the instruction of President Xi Jinping, to follow ‘the core values of socialism’ and ‘the requirements of the era’, as reported by French newspaper Le Figaro.
How to rewrite the Bible and Quran
Chinese officials agreed with Yang, as it is ‘the choice of history.’ Officials also claimed that by ‘re-evaluating’ religious books, they would prevent ‘extreme thoughts’ and ‘heretical ideas’ reported The Daily Mail.
Patrick Poon, China Researcher at Amnesty International, told MailOnline today, “[The censorship plans] show how manipulative the Chinese regime is, hypocritically allowing certain religions to operate in China but only strictly with what content the Chinese regime allows. “In many ways, the Chinese government’s control, including censorship of the Bible and the Quran, has twisted the doctrines of these religious texts and thus the religions. There is simply no genuine religious freedom.”
The Communist Party has been discovered through a cache of leaked documents, to be re-educating the Muslim people in the far-western province of Xinjiang.
Religious persecution of CCP
UN experts and activists have claimed that at least 1 million ethnic Uighurs and other Muslims are being held in detention centers in the region, reported The Daily Mail. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the cache of leaked documents is proof that Chinese authorities are involved in the massive and systemic repression of Muslims and other minorities in western China.
Pompeo said the documents underscored “an overwhelming and growing body of evidence” that China’s leaders are responsible for gross human rights violations in the Xinjiang region. “They detail the Chinese party’s brutal detention and systematic repression of Uighurs and members of other Muslim minority groups in Xinjiang,” Pompeo told reporters at a State Department news conference.
“We call on the Chinese government to immediately release all those who are arbitrarily detained and to end its draconian policies that have terrorized its own citizens in Xinjiang,” said Pompeo. “This is not only an enormous human rights violation, but we don’t think it’s in the best interests of the world or of China to engage in this kind of behavior,” Pompeo told PBS in an interview in October. “Beijing is involved in an “enormous human rights violation,” he said.
The Chinese Communist Party has a gruesome history of religious persecution. On June 17, 2019, the Independent People’s Tribunal on China gathered in London to confirm long-standing allegations of organ harvesting by the communist government and to deliver their final judgment: The People’s Republic of China(PRC) is guilty of crimes against humanity.
