The Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP’s) Defense Ministry has accused the United States of causing regional unrest and destroying world peace, two weeks after the Trump administration had just helped broker a historic United Arab Emirates-Israel peace deal.

China’s Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian on Sunday, Sept. 13, criticized a Pentagon report on Chinese military developments and goals that it said would have serious implications for U.S. national interests and the security of international rules-based order.

Wu fired back in his statement, claiming that the U.S. report is a “wanton distortion” of the CCP’s aims and the relationship between the PLA (People’s Liberation Army) and its 1.4 billion people.

“Many years of evidence shows that it is the U.S. that is the fomenter of regional unrest, the violator of the international order, and the destroyer of world peace,” Wu said, noting that U.S. actions in Iraq, Syria, Libya, and other countries over the past two decades have resulted in more than 800,000 deaths and displacement of millions.

“Rather than reflecting on itself, the U.S. issued a so-called report that made false comments about China’s normal defense and military construction,” he continued.

Wu said the CCP called on the United States to “view China’s national defense and military construction objectively and rationally, cease making false statements and related reports, and take concrete actions to safeguard the healthy development of bilateral military relations.”

In its annual report to Congress released on Sept. 2, the Pentagon said that it examined the PLA’s technical capabilities, doctrines, and the ultimate aims of China’s military buildup.

“Certainly, many factors will determine how this course unfolds. What is certain is that [the ruling Communist Party] has a strategic end state that it is working toward, which, if achieved and its accompanying military modernization left unaddressed, will have serious implications for U.S. national interests and the security of the international rules-based order.”

The report also said that the CCP has built a considerable arsenal of land-based ballistic and cruise missiles and has one of the world’s largest forces of advanced long-range surface-to-air systems.

The Pentagon unveiled its report as the Trump administration is blaming the CCP for the spread of the CCP Virus (coronavirus), and the two countries have clashed over trade, intellectual property, human rights abuses, CCP claims in the South China Sea, and the CCP’s imposition of a national security law over Hong Kong.

Unluckily for the CCP, the criticism by its military spokesman comes about two weeks after the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Israel reached a historic deal to normalize their relations under the Trump administration’s brokerage. The two countries are expected to sign a peace deal at a White House ceremony on Sept. 15, under which the UAE will formally end the country’s boycott of Israel.

During his term, President Trump has led the United States to no new wars while working to end the war in Afghanistan.
