China's Intermediate People's Court of Pingliang City, Gansu Province sentenced Xu Bo, former deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Lanzhou Municipal People's Congress to 13 years in prison for accepting bribes on March 23.

The sentence came with a fine of 1 million CNY (around $157 thousand).

During his tenure from 2003 to 2020 as governor of Gaolan County, the secretary of the Yuzhong County Party Committee, the vice mayor and executive vice mayor of Lanzhou City, he had illegally accepted property from others, which was worth more than 31.54 million CNY (nearly $5 million)

Xu was also accused of abusing his positions to seek benefits for others, including paying for the construction costs, approving land-use rights, planning procedures, and many more.
