New York Times bestselling author Vivek Ramaswamy was impressed that Celtics center Enes Kanter was vocal with his activism against the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

In an interview with Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow, Ramaswamy said it was courageous for Kanter to use his influence and speak up against the notorious human rights abuser, the CCP, instead of simply embarking on leftist agendas.

“I respect [Kanter] for what he’s doing, because it is a lot harder to take that personal risk than it is to bend the knee during our national anthem when everybody else is doing it,” said Ramaswamy in the interview.

The author of  Woke, Inc.: Inside Corporate America’s Social Justice Scam takes the view that choosing to back left-wing politics was just “conformism” to public pressure, whereas what Kanter was willing to do involved “real personal risks.”

“Today, there couldn’t be a more conformist thing to do than to kneel or turn your back during the national anthem—while all your other teammates are doing the same thing—in a culture and a media that celebrates you for doing it. That’s conformism,” said Ramaswamy.

He contrasted Kanter with Nike CEO Phil Knight, LeBron James, and Colin Kaepernick. They were valiant in promoting social injustice but would not stand up to genocide practices conducted by the CCP against minority and religious groups.

Both the NBA and Nike have been active in endorsing the Black Lives Matter movement while continuing lucrative contracts with China and ignoring calls to address human rights abuses. China, the world’s most populous region, has been a lucrative broadcast market for the NBA.

Ramaswamy raised his criticisms and said they were “lying prostrate before their true God in China to be able to enter a Chinese market, that gets them to jump to a Chinese Yuan like it’s a bone for a dog.”

“That’s effectively the culture that we’ve created in this country for companies that are doing business in China, as actual stewards and lapdogs of the CCP,” he noted.

The CCP has been condemned by international governments for its genocide practices against minorities like Uighur citizens and religious groups such as Falun Gong practitioners, Tibetan Buddhist disciples, and Christians.

Reports unveiled that the crimes conducted against victims of the regime were barbaric and countless, including systematic rape, forced labor, forced sterilization and torture, and forced organ harvesting.

It is also under the microscope for its treatment of Hong Kong protesters, with reports of police rape even against teenagers circulating in recent years.
