A man and a woman were found dead on the shoulder of Gunn Highway in Hillsborough County, Florida, after a motorcycle crash on Sunday morning, Aug. 25, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies were called around 6 a.m. by a passerby who spotted the motorcycle on the side of the road and pulled over, finding the bodies of the man and woman, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office believes that they were riding southbound on Gunn Highway when the driver lost control on a curve and hit a road sign. They were both thrown from the bike, FOX13 reported.

Deputies said the motorcycle may have taken a curve too fast and went off the road. Officials said neither victim was wearing a helmet.

The victims’ identities have not been released, pending next-of-kin notification.

Gunn Highway was closed between Race Track Road and Copeland Road for several hours Sunday morning as deputies investigated.

The crash remains under investigation and authorities have not released any further information as yet.
