Conservative commentator Meghan McCain an cohost on “The View” that the new adviser, Trey Gowdy, is “good news” for President Trump.

The daughter of the late Sen. John McCain said that the new adviser appointed by Donald Trump for the impeachment “is a brilliant orator” and someone she has “respected for years.”

“You can laugh all you want, but the fact that his joining Trump’s team is good news for Trump and bad news for Democrats,” McCain told her colleagues on the panel.

During the show, Whoopie Goldberg produced images of Gowdy’s appearance when the then-South Carolina congressman reproached then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for withholding information regarding an attack in Benghazi, Libya, against the U.S. Consulate in 2012.

The presenter’s intention was to draw a parallel between that episode and an alleged White House obstruction of the investigation despite the fact that White House published the transcript of the call almost immediately after the whistleblower came forward.

McCain dismantled that parallel by pointing out that it is precisely the Democrats who are hiding from the American people what is happening in the hearings of the congressional committee investigating alleged Ukrainian collusion by doing so behind closed doors.

“I think I’m confused why everyone’s laughing, because my take on it is that they’ve been having closed hearings,” she said.

“And don’t we want as [much] transparency as possible? And you can laugh all you want about Trey Gowdy, but he’s one of the great congressmen,” she added.

The conservative commentator’s words had a great effect on social networks, where many people agreed with her assessment.

“For once, this one and only time, I agree with Meghan McCain. Trey Gowdy is great news for President Trump and a nightmare for the democrats. They just don’t realize it yet. But they will,” one woman wrote on Twitter.

“The best lawyer and prior congressman in history! I would support a pay per view of Mr. Gowdy cross examining Schiff and the accuser,” commented one man on the social network.

When Goldberg mentioned that all this investigation is to clarify whether Donald Trump broke any laws during his call to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy this summer, McCain replied that it is necessary to see everything that is being talked about during those hearings.

“[The content of the hearings] is still being kept in private, which makes me think maybe it wasn’t as damning as Democrats are saying right now,” McCain said.

“And by the way, if I was in a fox hole, I want Trey Gowdy with me,” the famous senator’s daughter added.

President Trump hired former legislator Trey Gowdy as an advisor to the legal team that formulates the defense strategy for the Democratic-led impeachment in the Ukraine Case.

Trey Gowdy was seen October 8 at the White House before a letter was issued stating that the president and administration would not participate in the impeachment investigation, according to Bloomberg.
