Pano Michael Dupree, a 58-year-old South Carolina lawyer specializing in criminal defense, personal injury litigation, and general services, reportedly beat up his girlfriend earlier this month at Ashley Lanes bowling alley Charleston, causing a female passerby to take action and knock him out.

When police arrived, Dupree was still lying on the floor but was alert and conscious.

Dupree was taken to Roper St. Francis, then to MUSC to see an ophthalmologist.

He was taken to hospital before being arrested for third-degree assault and battery, according to news station WCBD.

Dupree had entered the bowling alley and, at first, began arguing with his girlfriend.

Police and authorities said he allegedly approached his girlfriend and “started placing his arms around her neck from behind, trying to place her in a chokehold.” Another woman noticed and rushed up to Dupree, punching him in the face and knocking him to the ground.

DuPree was detained and booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center before being released on a $1,087 bond on March 20. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 5.

Before this incident, DuPree was involved in an altercation with a Utah Highway Patrol Trooper in 2013. Dupree’s law license was briefly revoked as he was charged with assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and public intoxication.
