The Biden administration is attempting to withhold information surrounding the ongoing crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.

According to Breitbart News, the Department Homeland Security (DHS) received verbal orders from within the agency limiting their ability to speak freely about the immigration situation at the border.

“The situation with media relations now is night and day compared to the last administration,” the official told the paper. “We have been advised not to speak on immigration issues at the border and to rely on DHS’s Office of Public Affairs and the Whitehouse Press Office to handle messaging.”

Senior law enforcement leaders within the DHS have to follow the verbal order without expiration date.

During a visit to Border Patrol stations and a Health and a Human Services unaccompanied children’s detention facility in Texas by DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Biden’s director of the Domestic Policy Council, Susan Rice on Saturday, March 6, reporters were not allowed to be present to avoid images of overcrowded facilities from being circulated, Breitbart News noted.

Just over a month into his presidency, President Joe Biden is staring down a mounting crisis at the border as he has taken steps to roll back Trump-era immigration policies. Still, the new administration has denied there is a crisis at the southern border, amid a surge of unaccompanied child migrants.

“The men and women of the Department of Homeland Security are working around the clock seven days a week to ensure that we do not have a crisis at the border—that we manage the challenge, as acute as the challenge is,” Mayorkas said last week before laying the blame on the Trump administration.

“The prior administration dismantled our immigration system in its entirety,” Mayorkas said. “Quite frankly, the entire system was gutted.”

“It takes time to build out of the depths of cruelty that the administration before us established,” he added. “What we are seeing now at the order is the immediate result of the dismantlement of the system and the time that it takes to rebuild it virtually from scratch.”

Mayorkas then added, “We are not saying don’t come. We are saying don’t come now, because we will be able to deliver a safe and orderly process for them as quickly as possible.”

An Arizona border sheriff did not agree with the new administration, saying that Biden’s reversal of Trump’s policies have caused a serious problem on the border.

“When President Biden rescinded the emergency order on the southwest border, it stopped resources, and it stopped construction on our border,” Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels told Fox News.

“As a result of that one area where the fence is not complete, we get five or six groups a day coming across there. It opened up the border. It opened up the message that it’s okay to come in this country. This administration owns this decision,” Dannels continued.
