President Trump on Tuesday, Sept. 10 said in a tweet that his efforts to help Dan Bishop —like changing the campaign strategy or holding the rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina,—have been paid off.

“Dan Bishop was down 17 points 3 weeks ago. He then asked me for help, we changed his strategy together, and he ran a great race. Big Rally last night. Now it looks like he is going to win,” Trump tweeted.

On Sept. 9, President Trump held a rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to help Dan Bishop, who aligned his campaign with Trump’s policies,  as a last-minute boost.

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) Chairwoman Cheri Bustos acknowledged that the president contributed to Bishop’s win.

“We fell an inch short tonight, but it took more than $6 million in outside Republican spending and a last-minute Trump rally to scrape by in a district that the president carried by 11.9 points,” Bustos said in a statement.

Through the North Carolina wins, President Trump seems to have improved his political position in rural and suburban areas.

“Trump’s support in these mixed rural-suburban districts is really strong,” said David McIntosh, the president of the conservative Club for Growth and a former Indiana congressman, according to Politico.

“Tuesday’s results outlined the path to 2020 victory for both parties, cut along the fundamental trend of politics in the Trump era: cities and suburbs swinging more and more Democratic, while the president’s appeal brings exurbs and rural voters deeper into the GOP fold,” Politico reported.

The president also took advantage of the wins to mock CNN and MSNBC news outlet, saying “@CNN & @MSNBC are moving their big studio equipment and talent out.”

“.@CNN & @MSNBC were all set to have a BIG victory, until Dan Bishop won North Carolina 09. Now you will hear them barely talk about, or cover, the race. Fake News never wins!” he tweeted.

While congratulating Greg Murphy for his big win in the 3rd Congressional District, the president kept on criticizing media outlets, saying “the Fake News barely covered the race” and “there was just nothing the Fakers could say to diminish or demean the scope of this victory.”

“Greg Murphy won big, 62% to 37%, in North Carolina 03, & the Fake News barely covered the race. The win was far bigger than anticipated – there was just nothing the Fakers could say to diminish or demean the scope of this victory. So we had TWO BIG VICTORIES tonight, Greg & Dan” the president tweeted.

The president also tweeted to congratulate the Republicans for winning, “BIG NIGHT FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!
