President Donald Trump said migrant detention centers are not as terrible as reported by some fake media, but complained they are crowded and full of criminals, which needs a fix in federal law.
“Friday’s tour showed vividly, to politicians and the media, how well run and clean the children’s detention centers are. Great reviews!” President Trump tweeted on Sunday, July 14, referring to a tour by Vice President Mike Pence and some Republican senators to a detention facility in Texas on July 12.
“The adult single men areas were clean but crowded—also loaded up with a big percentage of criminals,” he wrote, after blaming New York Times for its fake reporting.
President Trump said his administration could not let the migrant criminals into the United States, and “if too crowded, tell them not to come to USA.”
The president also urged the congressional Democrats to solve the problem for the country by fixing loopholes in immigration law.

The new tweet came Sunday morning after President Trump retweeted a status by Mike Pence in which the vice president criticized CNN for not reporting the full story at two detention camps on the Texas border.
“CNN is so dishonest. Today we took reporters to a detention facility on the border for families and children and all told us they were being treated well,” Pence wrote on a tweet late Friday.

Pence said his delegation together with the reporters visited an overcrowded facility for adult men, who were in a temporary holding area because Democrats in Congress have refused to fund additional bed space.
“Rather than broadcast the full story, showing the compassionate care the American people are providing to vulnerable families, tonight CNN only played video of men in the temporary facility and didn’t play any footage of the family facility at all… ignoring the excellent care being provided to families and children. Our great @CBP agents deserve better and the American people deserve the whole story from CNN!” Pence wrote.
Pence made his visits to the Donna and McAllen centers after media, including The New York Times, reported of dire conditions at the migrant detention camps that the Trump administration complained as “phony.”
“While we hear some Democrats in Washington, D.C., referring to U.S. Customs and Border facilities as ‘concentration camps,’ what we saw today was a facility that is providing care that every American would be proud of,” Pence said after the tour.
