Postal worker Richard Hopkins on Tuesday, Nov. 10, rejected a report from The Washington Post claiming that he has recanted his allegations concerning ballot tampering in Pennsylvania.

Hopkins, an Erie, Pennsylvania, mail carrier, signed an affidavit last week, alleging that a postmaster had told postal workers to backdate ballots that were mailed after Election Day.

The Washington Post on Tuesday reported that Hopkins has “admitted to U.S. Postal Service investigators that he fabricated the allegations, according to three officials briefed on the investigation and a statement from a House congressional committee.”

“Erie, Pa. #USPS whistleblower completely RECANTED his allegations of a supervisor tampering with mail-in ballots after being questioned by investigators, according to IG [investigators],” posted the Twitter account for the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, chaired by Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney (D-N.Y.).

Project Veritas founder and CEO James O’Keefe responded to the committee’s tweets, saying that Hopkins stands by his original allegations. He has video to prove that Hopkins was pressured to sign a document he did not understand.

“We have recordings of the federal agents, who COERCED this man through a 4-hour interrogation without representation, who stands by his original affidavit re: backdating ballots,” O’Keefe wrote. “Standby for recordings doubling down on backdating ballots. This is soviet style truth suppression.”

O’Keefe later posted a video of Hopkins claiming he did not recant his allegations and called on The Washington Post to retract the article.

“My name is Richard Hopkins. I am the postal employee who came out and whistle-blew on the Erie, Pennsylvania, postal office,” he said in the video. “I am, right at this very moment, looking at an article written by Washington Post. It says that I fabricated the allegations of ballot tampering. I am here to say I did not recant my statements. That did not happen. That’s not what happened. And you will find out tomorrow.”

“And I would like that The Washington Post recant their wonderful little article that they decided to throw out there,” he added.

President Trump praised Hopkins’s action, saying, “A brave patriot. More & more people are stepping forward to expose Rigged Election!”
