According to the New York Post, Jessica Lawrence, 42, from North Carolina, disappeared on the day she was set to travel with her boyfriend, Michael Brayboy, 42, who was later caught driving her car.

On Sept. 26, Jessica was last spotted leaving her Saint Pauls apartment. She had previously planned to drive to Pembroke with her boyfriend on the same day.

She was reported missing on Oct. 12, with authorities conducting exhaustive searches have executed multiple search warrants and canvassed areas of concern looking for her.

On Monday, Oct. 18, a new announcement declared that they were concentrating the search for Lawrence in Rowland, 30 miles south of Saint Pauls.

On Tuesday, Oct. 19, the Sheriff’s office announced that they had discovered a mobile phone during the investigation and were working to determine if it was Lawrence’s.

According to the Sheriff’s office, a policeman noticed Lawrence’s SUV at Red Springs, 13 miles west of Saint Pauls, on Oct. 14 and made a traffic check.

According to officials, Brayboy, a Rowland resident, was driving.

Even though Brayboy has not been charged with Lawrence’s disappearance, he was detained on a $1.5 million bond for reportedly neglecting, as a sex offender, to inform of his change of address.

Authorities have carried out various searches and investigated related areas since Lawrence went missing.

In early October, her neighbor Linda Locklear and the homeowner went into Lawrence’s flat to check on her when she skipped a rent payment.

“We saw stains on the wall and stains on the curtain and a bloody sock on the floor,” Locklear said.

Investigators have encouraged anyone who saw Brayboy around the time Lawrence went missing to call them.

“We have reason to believe foul play is involved,” Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins stated on Oct. 15. “We can’t discuss details of where the investigation is at this point but many leads have been established and evidence has been obtained.”

“We are asking for the public’s assistance in regards to anyone that observed Brayboy in the vehicle described or may have seen him with Lawrence around Sept. 26-27, 2021 to come forward.” the Sheriff went on to say.

On July 29, 2020, Brayboy was released after nearly 23 years in prison for first-degree rape and first-degree sex offense.
