In the macabre trade in aborted baby organs, Planned Parenthood charged $60 each and a middleman resold them for $2,000 to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and now a court is ordering HHS to publish the details of these purchases.
“The federal government engaged in this potentially illicit trade for years,” Judicial Watch denounced, detailing that it always ordered them “fresh and never frozen,” as reported on its website on March 16.
The court also argued, “[t]here is reason to question” the legality of this trade in human parts, given that federal law prohibits the sale of fetal organs.
The trade was conducted by California-based Advanced Bioscience Resources (ABR) in partnership with multinational abortion company Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers to dismember fetuses and sell their parts for research.
ABR sold second-trimester livers and thymus glands for hundreds of dollars each. It also sold brains, eyes and lungs. After adding fees for services such as shipping and cleaning, ABR was able to charge more than $2,000 per fetus.
The laboratory research sought to create “humanized mice” that would later be used in studies of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), which causes AIDS.
Under these circumstances Judicial Watch believes that ABR “engaged in criminal conduct” under 42 U.S.C. § 289g-2(a), which makes it illegal to transfer “any human fetal tissue for valuable consideration.”
However, reports on these controversial purchases indicate that government institutions such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) paid “valuable consideration” to ABR making the government obligated to report them.
With the order to disclose the purchases the court responded to a March 2019 Judicial Watch lawsuit after HHS failed to satisfactorily respond to a September 2018 FOIA request made by Judicial Watch.
The marketing of aborted baby parts is a fact. Several Planned Parenthood employees agreed that they had turned over aborted baby parts in exchange for money, on the first day of a hearing in the company’s lawsuit against the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) on Sept. 3 in San Francisco, CMP reported.
Planned Parenthood’s disturbing intervention seems to have no end in sight. In addition to being the world’s largest abortion clinic, it is also a major supplier of a hormone that is being used to enable teenagers and children to “sex change.”
