Both FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Bill Barr spoke out against antifa, warning the public that it is dangerous and of its role in the extremely violent events that took place during the last few months as a result of the protests organized with Black Lives Matter and other smaller movements, over the death of George Floyd.
Christopher Wray spoke in front of the House National Security Committee on Thursday, Sept. 17 and reconfirmed that antifa is an extremely dangerous ideology that feeds the riots across the country because of its extremist and violent nature. He also reported that his agents are conducting in-depth research on the movement and certain individuals who are listed as members.
“Antifa is a real thing. It’s not a group or an organization. It’s a movement, or an ideology may be one way of thinking of it and we have quite a number, and I’ve said this quite consistently since my first time appearing before this committee, we have any number of properly predicated investigations into what we would describe as violent anarchist extremists and some of those individuals self-identify with antifa,” Wray said.
Attorney General Bill Barr, in an interview with Townhall, said that antifa and other groups like it are the promoters of the violent movements in favor of racial equality that they claim has suffered in major cities in the United States.
In his interview, Barr not only pointed to antifa and the violent movements he was also biting in his stance against most of the media he accused of being complicit in the violence during the protests.
“Most of the mainstream media. They’re a collection of liars and they know exactly what they’re doing. A perfect example of that were the riots. Right on the street it was clear as day what was going on, anyone observing it, reporters observing it, it could not have escaped their attention that this was orchestrated violence by a hardened group of street fighting radicals,” Barr said.
As he continued he said that the media constantly avoids showing all the violent elements of the protests, instead concentrating only on showing when at times the police responded to the criminal actions of the protesters, making viewers believe that the police were senselessly repressing people of color.
He closed his interview by saying, “The press has dropped, in my—and I’m talking about the national mainstream media—has dropped any pretense of professional objectivity and are political actors, highly partisan who try to shape what they’re reporting to achieve a political purpose and support a political narrative that has nothing to do with the truth.”
President Trump, as he stated two weeks ago at a press conference and in the same line of thought as Barr, recognized antifa as a movement that behaves in the same manner as historic terrorist movements. They seek as their first objective to spread fear among the population, in order to later be able to impose their anti-capitalist and anti-system agenda. And the way to try to fulfill their objectives is none other than violence.
