A body was found early Friday submerged in a swampy near Slocum Lake has been identified as a missing teenager.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s office, 17-year-old Abe Gonzalez, from northwest suburban Island Lake, was found at around 10:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, in a swampy area just southwest of Slocum Lake, Illinois. The teen was reported missing by his family on Nov. 2, WGN TV reported.
Gonzalez had last been seen leaving a residence in unincorporated Wauconda on foot around midnight Nov. 2. He had been described as being highly intoxicated, officials said.
The 17-year-old boy was found after 15 sheriff’s detectives and sheriff’s auxiliary deputies began a grid search of the area at daybreak.
Officials said there is no evidence to suggest foul play in Gonzalez’s death, but an autopsy is scheduled for Friday afternoon.
Autopsy results are pending.
