After House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) created havoc in the House when she tore to shreds a copy of President Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday evening, Feb. 4, it seems she will suffer the consequences of her actions.
Several members of the House were aghast at Pelosi, and are taking action.
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) intends on filing an ethics complaint against her.
“Her conduct was beneath the dignity of the House, and a potential violation of law (18 USC 2071),” Gaetz wrote to the House Ethics Committee Chair Ted Deutch (D-Fla.). That provision prohibits destruction of an official record over which you have custody. Gaetz called Pelosi’s actions a “flagrant violation of decorum” defined by the House rules. He pointed out that she was not only dismissive of the president but more importantly of the American people with her act. He even called for a criminal referral for her alleged violation of the law. “Nobody is above the law. She must be held accountable.”

Others are following suit, including Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas) and Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.).
“She is not the Speaker of the Democrats, but of the People’s House!” said Granger.
From Daily Wire, “Speaker Pelosi’s actions last night were appalling and shameful,” Granger said in a statement. “Regardless of her personal feelings, she had a responsibility to conduct herself with civility as the presiding officer representing the House of Representatives. She is not the Speaker of the Democrats, but of the People’s House.”
“Not only were her actions disrespectful of the Office of the President and the millions of Americans who elected President Trump, they were a slap in the face to the American heroes and their families he honored in his address,” Granger continued. “The privileged resolution was introduced under Rule 9 of the standing rules of the House. It is expected that the House will vote on the resolution later this week.”
Today, I introduced a privileged resolution strongly disapproving @SpeakerPelosi’s appalling actions following President @realDonaldTrump’s #SOTU2020 address. Speaker Pelosi ripped up far more than a speech.

Many Americans were angered by her disrespectful actions, including Democrats watching the address from home, who called into C-Span and said that they would “never vote Democrat again.”
From PJ Media, “I’m a Democrat, but I no longer will vote Democrat,” said one caller. “I think it’s outrageous that they sat there when all these good things are happening to our country and how much we love our country. And they looked like they hated our country. … It’s outrageous and I will never vote Democrat again.” she also said that her family had voted for Hillary Clinton but this time they will never vote for another Democrat.
But she wasn’t the only one. A man called in and said, “Let me put it this way, I’ve been a Democrat for 70-some years and what I saw tonight was appalling to me … it was very disrespectful to this president and I didn’t vote for him … but that man is the president and we should respect him.”
He continued, “What I’ve seen tonight of the Democrat Party, I am changing my mind … I’ll probably stay home. I’m embarrassed being a God-danged Democrat for what they did in the House today. … They looked like a bunch of dadgum idiots sitting there.”
Guests in the audience who were honored by the president were affected by Pelosi’s actions. Jody Jones was one of them, his brother Rocky had been shot and killed by an illegal alien, who had been arrested and deported twice, then after his sixth arrest was released due to California’s sanctuary state policy, passed by Democrats.
He then went on to kill Rocky and injure several others in 2018.
The grief of losing his brother was deepened by Pelosi tearing up the president’s address, which was a record of the president’s thanks to Rocky.
During an interview with Fox News later, Jones said, “It felt like she ripped our hearts out.” “Everybody there. All of the guests. We couldn’t believe it,” he added.
