Hollywood plays along with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to gain access to a huge slice of the cinematic pie in China, with American films being rewritten and censored to please the CCP.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has drafted a bill to cut off funds to Hollywood studios for films that are censored for China. The problem with censorship is a “massive problem” said Cruz.
Cruz said assistance from the Pentagon to Hollywood for planes, ships, and other assets will be stopped if they cooperate with Chinese censors. “We’re not gonna facilitate Chinese Communist censorship,” said Cruz if the legislation is passed.
Cruz said he opposes censorship and Chinese communist. “And I believe in truth,” he told Tucker Carlson on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” Cruz was referring to the film “Bohemian Rhapsody” about the life of lead singer from Queen, Freddy Mercury. The CCP demanded Hollywood edit out the fact that Mercury was a homosexual.
“Pause to think about how many Hollywood producers like to virtue signal about their courage and free speech and artistic integrity and yet they happily try to edit out the fact that Freddie Mercury is gay? It’s extraordinary,” said Cruz.
Cruz said it’s about time film studios in the United States are held accountable by the government. “Hollywood is fully complicit, Hollywood works with the Chinese censors; Hollywood has been willing over and over and over again, there’s so much money at stake.”
“We aren’t going to facilitate Chinese communist censorship,” Cruz told “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” “The problem of censorship is a massive problem within China. China’s own censorship and coverup of this [coronavirus] pandemic helped produce 257,000 deaths worldwide and when it comes to Hollywood, Hollywood is not an innocent bystander here.”
The upcoming “Top Gun” sequel starring Tom Cruise has been censored, with the Taiwanese and Japanese flags stripped from Cruz’s iconic flight jacket. “What are we saying to the world that Maverick is afraid of the Chinese communists?” Cruz asked.
