The Democratic mayor of Del Rio, Texas, Bruno Lozano, on Wednesday, Feb. 18, pleaded with President Joe Biden to stop releasing migrants into the area as the state faces food and water shortages during the winter storm crisis.
“I am pleading and requesting with you to please put a halt to any measures regarding the release of immigrants awaiting court dates into the city of Del Rio and surrounding areas,” Lozano asked Biden in a video, reported the Daily Wire. “We do not have the resources available to house and accommodate these migrants within our community.”
The mayor said if Biden sends immigrants into the area, he will be forced to “leave them without resources under these dire circumstances.” Otherwise, the Biden administration has to provide the means and the supplies necessary to accommodate these individuals.
“We have been outsourcing dialysis treatments for our in-need persons in our community; we have had to relocate the elderly who require power for oxygen tanks,” Lozano explained. “We are completely and utterly spread thin with resources for our own community.”
Lozano said other borders mayors share the same concerns about the migrant population.
Texans are facing extreme weather conditions. Freezing temperatures paired with mass power outages disrupted the state’s food supply chain that people rely on every day. Thursday marked the fifth day, roughly 500,000 homes throughout Texas were without power.
Most grocery store shelves were empty. Meanwhile, fruit and vegetable crops in the Rio Grande Valley have frozen over. The Texas Department of Agriculture Commissioner said dairy farmers around the state were forced to pour out over $8 million worth of milk every day because they can’t get it to dairies.

According to Breitbart News, Biden’s Department of Homeland Security would begin to release about 25,600 migrants, who have been in Mexico under the Trump administration’s “Remain in Mexico” policy, into American communities in Texas and California on Feb. 19.
Additionally, under Biden’s non-deportation rules, immigrants can’t be deported if they get a DUI, commit fraud, tax crimes, or assault, as Fox News reported.
“Every peace officer in the United States should be extremely concerned about the attitude, the lawlessness, the complete abject removal of law,” Jackson County, Texas sheriff A.J. Louderback told Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
Louderback said a memo he received from the Biden administration was “particularly devastating,” not just for the state of Texas but for America as a whole.
“It’s a message to the world: You can come here illegally, you can commit crimes here against Americans and remain here illegally,” he said.
