The father of a school-age girl pulled his daughter out of an elite Manhattan private school, arguing that she and her family were practically forced to become ‘anti-racist’ activists. He added that the school’s “woke” curriculum under the guise of “diversity” had become so skewed that the school directly indoctrinated his daughter rather than educating her.
Andrew Gutmann wrote a letter to the school’s parents explaining his reasons for pulling his daughter out of the $54,000-a-year Brearley School on Manhattan’s Upper East Side on April 16. It went viral recently after he was interviewed on Fox News.
“It cannot be stated strongly enough that Brearley’s obsession with race must stop. It should be abundantly clear to any thinking parent that Brearley has completely lost its way,” Mr. Gutmann wrote.
“I object to the view that I should be judged by the color of my skin. I cannot tolerate a school that not only judges my daughter by the color of her skin, but encourages and instructs her to prejudge others by theirs,” the girl’s dad unloaded.
Gutmann, with solid arguments, disproves that America is a country with systemic racism, as is repeated incessantly by Democrats, the mainstream media. Many people come to believe such media propaganda.
“I object to a definition of systemic racism, apparently supported by Brearley, that any educational, professional, or societal outcome where Blacks are underrepresented is prima facie evidence of the aforementioned systemic racism, or of white supremacy and oppression,” Mr. Gutmann explained.
“I object to the idea that Blacks are unable to succeed in this country without aid from the government or from whites. Brearley, by adopting critical race theory, is advocating the abhorrent viewpoint that Blacks should forever be regarded as helpless victims, and are incapable of success regardless of their skills, talents, or hard work. What Brearley is teaching our children is precisely the true and correct definition of racism,” the dad criticized.
The school went so far with the idea of teaching ‘anti-racism’ that Mr. Gutmann felt the pressure to side with the Black Lives Matter movement was too much.
“If you just stay silent, you’re racist. You have to be an activist for that. If you’re not an activist for an antiracism initiative, for Black Lives Matter, for example, you are racist, you are a bad person, you are an oppressor, you are not doing the right thing,” he told Fox News.
Gutmann said that at school, they teach his daughter to hate her country. They have changed U.S. history so as not to ‘offend’ certain groups. Instead of educating children, they are simply indoctrinating them with harmful ideologies.
“I object that Brearley is trying to usurp the role of parents in teaching morality, and bullying parents to adopt that false morality at home. I object that Brearley is fostering a divisive community where families of different races, which until recently were part of the same community, are now segregated into two. These are the reasons why we can no longer send our daughter to Brearley,” Mr. Gutmann explained.
Gutman said he spoke to many like-minded parents and, in his letter, urged them to speak up before it’s too late.
“Contact the administration and the Board of Trustees and demand an end to the destructive and anti-intellectual claptrap known as antiracism. And if changes are not forthcoming then demand new leadership. For the sake of our community, our city, our country and most of all, our children, silence is no longer an option,” wrote Mr. Gutmann.
The Brearley school case comes on top of the recent case at Grace Church High School in Manhattan, where a teacher stepped forward and criticized the alleged anti-racism in the school curriculum to the point that white students were practically tortured just for being white.
Professor Paul Rossi was fired for his criticism of the school. Still, by taking a stand, he exposed the evil intent of these ‘anti-racist’ movements that end up dividing American society while claiming to want to ‘heal’ it.
