While some sanctimoniously outspoken Democrats in Congress, perhaps confused about the state of the art American treatment of lawbreakers or just interested in political gamesmanship, carry on about the supposedly dreadful internment conditions for illegal aliens on the border, Vice President Mike Pence after touring a migrant detention facility in Donna, Texas, on Friday, July 12, shared in a roundtable discussion in nearby McAllen that just the opposite was true saying that U.S. Customs and Border Patrol are providing illegal immigrant care that every American would be proud of.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D- N.Y.) said, “Much has been made about the fact that we have said that this is a manufactured crisis and in many ways it is manufactured and that it is wholly unnecessary… I believed the canker sores that I saw in their mouths because they were only allowed to be fed unnutritious food. I believed them when they said they were sleeping on concrete floors for two months. I believe them. And what was worst about this, Mr. Chairman, was the fact that there were American flags hanging all over these facilities, that children being separated from their parents, in front of an American flag.”
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) said, “Mr. Speaker we do have a crisis at our border. It is one of morality. As we have seen this current strategy unfold, intentional and cruelly created by the Trump administration, dead set on sending a hate filled message that those seeking refuge are not welcome in America.” Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) said “Mr. Chairman I cannot unsee what I’ve seen. I cannot un-feel what I experienced. I refuse to. Although admittedly it robs me of sleep and peace of mind.”
Vice President Pence said, “It’s my honor to be with you all and to have the opportunity to see firsthand the extraordinary and compassionate professionalism of Customs and Border Protection. We literally just came from another facility and at the Donna Soft Sided Processing facility. And while we hear some Democrats in Washington, referring to U.S. Customs and Border facilities as ‘concentration camps,’ what we saw today was a facility that is providing care that every American would be proud of.”
During the now infamous House Oversight Committee on Friday where this small number of extremely confused Democrats forgot about their party’s long refusal to address the crisis, visited the border and are now confident the public will ignore their negative track record and accept their new found child psychology expertise as well as their determination to personally blame President Donald Trump for any and all possible cruelty illegal alien children might have experienced while Republicans just shake their heads in disbelief about this strange parallel universe.
Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) said, “Separating children from their mothers and fathers causes damage that may endure for a lifetime. Let me let that sink in. In other words until they die. The Trump administration adopted its child-separation policy intentionally, purposefully as a tactic to deter people from coming to the United States and seeking asylum.”
Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-Ariz.), said, “Have you ever seen a movie where they have parallel universes? Where you’re in one world in this situation you’re in another world in this situation? Well, that’s what I feel like we’re in, quite honestly. In some of my Democrat colleagues worlds they seem to think that all of a sudden, out of the blue, thousands of illegal immigrants showed up at the border and are just oblivious, oblivious to the yearlong calls by Republicans, and some Democrats, for years for immigration reform knowing that our loose immigration laws are what’s incentivizing people to come here and what’s causing the crisis.”
Meanwhile the vice president, asked by the president to make it possible for more members of Congress to see for themselves as well as the American people just how the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol is working to deal with thousands of illegals everyday, acknowledged the crisis, noted the heartbreak for he and his wife Karen as parents, and expressed disappointment with the no show Democrats.
Pence said, “It’s time that we moved past the harsh rhetoric of the American left and we moved to the facts. And the facts are that we have a crisis on our southern border that is being driven by human traffickers, who are exploiting loopholes in American law to entice vulnerable families to make the long and dangerous journey north. I have to tell you, for Karen (Pence) and me, it was, frankly, heartbreaking as parents to talk to young children who told us of having walked two and three months up the peninsula to cross into our country and that has to change. And let me also join Sen. Graham in expressing my disappointment that no Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee are with us today.”
