A teen suspect is in custody after an active shooting incident at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita that wounded multiple people and caused the temporary lockdown of two entire school districts on Thursday morning, Nov. 14, authorities said. One female was killed and two other male victims are in critical condition.

In a Twitter post, Henry Mayo Hospital confirmed the death, saying that it received two more male patients in critical condition and a third male patient in good condition.

There was an army of deputies coming down on the scene and fanning out to multiple locations. Sheriff Alex Villanueva confirmed the suspect was in custody by 9:40 a.m. local time.

The alleged shooter was being treated at a local hospital, he tweeted.

The suspect was earlier described as a young Asian male dressed in all black. The sheriff’s department said the shooter is believed to be a 16-year-old student at Saugus High School.

“Seven people have been reported injured but we don’t have any information on what the injuries are,” a source with the Los Angeles County Fire Department told the Daily News during the early chaos at 8:15 a.m.

One student, who only identified herself as Riley, told KTLA that she was outside the library with her friends when she heard shots ring out.

“We heard one, two gunshots. We looked at each other, it took so long for us to process … Then we heard three or four more gunshots,” Riley told the news outlet.

She added: “I heard a bullet hit the wall right next to where we were standing … we ran as fast as we could. There were hundreds of us just running as far away as possible.”
