Mercy San Juan Medical Center  in Carmichael, California, on Saturday, Feb. 29,  was the site of a one in 2 million double birthday.

According to her mother, Jennifer Rebollar Cortez, Camila Peñaloza was due on March 3, and her earlier birth coincided not only with the leap day but also with her father’s birthday.

Ivan Peñaloza, 32, found it an unexpected blessing to this remarkable joint birthday.

According to Cortez, hospital personnel presented Camila with a leapfrog outfit and sang “Happy Birthday” to her and her father.

“Having a child is such a special experience already but it has been that much more magical,” she said.

According to the hospital, the probability of parents sharing a Leap Day birthday is one in 2.1 million.

“Our heartfelt congratulations and we wish them a lifetime of love and happiness with their new bundle of joy,” the president of the Mercy San Juan Medical Center, Michael Korpiel said.
