Police say the 16-year-old girl who was apparently kidnapped right in front of her mother staged the whole thing.
The kidnapping in the Bronx was staged by Karol Sanchez, who allegedly confessed to it after being reunited with her family Tuesday.
The teen said that she wanted to get away from her family.
Around 11:30 p.m. Monday, Karol was walking with her mother when blurry surveillance video shows four men in a sedan grab the teen, push her mother to the ground then drive off.
“She was just screaming, ‘My daughter, my daughter, my God, someone please!’” said Shaniya Williams, a Melrose resident. “She was screaming hysterically.”

In the morning, the NYPD put out an Amber Alert and flooded the neighborhood with missing posters.
At 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Karol suddenly came back to the spot where she was taken and was reunited with her relatives, to their relief.
The teen turned herself into police on site and admitted that she orchestrated her own kidnapping, with four accomplices in an attempt to run away from her family.
“She was shaken up, she was bending over, grabbing her knees, and discussing with the police,” said Zani Koxha, a witness.
Police let the teen go without charging her with any crimes.
The NYPD says it is still investigating and looking for four male accomplices.
