Cedar Hill police are investigating the death of an 11-year-old boy who was found dead in his parents’ bedroom with a handgun nearby Saturday night, Nov. 2.

The incident took place just before 7:45 p.m., according to police.

The boy has been identified as Daron Sneed Jr. by the Dallas Medical Examiner’s Office.

The boy’s grandfather told police he was watching two children while their parents were at an event. He said he was watching TV downstairs with the 8-year-old, while Daron was upstairs playing video games.

According to police, the grandfather said he heard a noise and went upstairs, he found Daron on the floor in his parents’ room with a handgun nearby. The grandfather then called 911.

Daron was pronounced dead.

No further details have been released as police are still investigating.
