Former President Donald Trump held a “very good and cordial” meeting with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), in which they planned the winning strategy for the 2022 elections.
“They worked very well together in the last election and picked up at least 15 seats when most predicted it would be the opposite. They will do so again, and the work has already started,” advanced the Trump-aligned Save America Political Action Committee according to Fox News Jan. 28.
McCarthy tweeted, “United and ready to win in ’22,” synthesizing the goal of the meeting that took place at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s Palm Beach, Florida, headquarters.
He further wrote on his website, “A united conservative movement will strengthen the bonds of our citizens and uphold the freedoms our country was founded on.”
He added, “Today, President Trump committed to helping elect Republicans in the House and Senate in 2022. A Republican majority will listen to our fellow Americans and solve the challenges facing our nation.”
“For the sake of our country, the radical Democrat agenda must be stopped,” McCarthy said in a statement.
McCarthy also thought that Democrats had only insisted on dividing the country by pushing for Trump’s impeachment as if he were president, when in fact he was already a private citizen, in addition to “destroying blue collar energy jobs.”
The Republicans’ chances for a Senate majority are very close as they are currently tied with the Democrats, each party has 50 senators.
As for the House they are also very close with 211 of their own against 221 Democrats. They also count in their favor the fact that traditionally the party opposite to the president takes the majority.
Trump represents a “major political force” for most Republicans, according to recent research by U.S. national pollster Rasmussen.
McCarthy is also credited with the successful strategy that allowed the Republicans to rescue 15 seats in the House, shaking the power of Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and the Democrats, which suffered a defeat they never imagined.
