Texas’s House Democratic Caucus confirmed another two state lawmakers tested positive for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Virus on July 18.

State Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer (D) is one of the two infected patients who was fully vaccinated.

Fischer revealed he initially tested negative on both July 16 and 17. He is already beginning to experience very mild symptoms.

“I received a positive COVID-19 (CCP Virus) rapid antigen test result,” he said on Twitter. “I am fully vaccinated, and had tested negative on Friday and Saturday. I am quarantining until I test negative, and I am grateful to be only experiencing extremely mild symptoms.”

State Rep. Celia Israel (D) was the only other positive case who came forward to identify herself at the time of publication. She admitted she underestimated how infectious the deadly disease could be while celebrating her wedding anniversary in quarantine.

“I tested positive for COVID-19 (CCP Virus),” she said on Twitter. “What this highlights is the risk every Texas House Democratic Caucus member continues to face to defend the state we love and the Texans we represent. Despite my setback, I will continue to push forward and fight for every Texan to have their voices heard.”

Three other state lawmakers from the same group previously tested positive for the CCP Virus on July 16 and 17. They were also fully vaccinated.

Texas Democrats had chartered $100,000 in flights from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on July 12. They fled the Lone Star State to prevent state Republicans from passing two voting rights bills in a special session.

Many of them took and shared mask less selfies on the plane. Multiple Republicans later accused them of violating Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.

The caucus is now conducting daily CCP Virus testing for the more than 50 state lawmakers in Washington.

“All of the House Democratic Caucus members who tested positive are feeling good, with no symptoms or only mild symptoms,” a caucus representative said in a statement obtained by KXAN.

State lawmakers met with Vice President Kamala Harris and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to support both the For the People Act and John Lewis Voting Rights Act. They are waiting out a special legislative session convened by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R).

Republicans have chastised Texas Democrats for avoiding their duty to represent constituents. Abbott has threatened to arrest all responsible Democrats when they return to Texas sometime in August.
