A left-leaning political action committee (PAC) accused Donald Trump of illegally withholding his reelection plans.

American Bridge 21st Century recently complained to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) about the previous president’s reluctance to declare candidacy for the 2024 election.

The Democrat-led PAC claims Trump violated campaign fundraising rules by not announcing his run for a second term in the Oval Office.

“Mr. Trump has been illegally using his multicandidate leadership PAC to raise and spend funds, in excess of commission limits, for the purpose of advancing a 2024 presidential campaign,” the complaint wording said.

“These expenditures include payments for events at Trump properties, rallies featuring Mr. Trump, consulting payments to former Trump campaign staff, and digital advertising about Mr. Trump’s events—and his presumptive 2024 opponent,” it added.

American Bridge is convinced the previous president will eventually challenge incumbent Joe Biden. Their assumption is based on Trump’s previous statements that indicate he will run multiple times for public office.

“Mr. Trump said, ‘We did it twice and we will do it again … [and] we are going to be
doing it again a third time,’ in reference to his presidential campaign,” the wording said.

“His statements were virtually identical to those in Larsen, where the commission found that federal candidacy had been triggered by statements like, ‘It is time to do it again … [and] we will win this time,'” it added.

Federal regulations require candidates to inform the FEC within 15 days of receiving contributions or expenses exceeding $5,000 to influence the election outcome. In addition, donation limits and disclosure requirements apply after declaring candidacy, according to the Washington Post.

Trump’s Save America PAC dismissed these allegations as misinformation.

“Our country is spiraling into disaster because of the Democrats’s failures and, instead of reversing course to provide needed relief to American families, they are busy filing frivolous complaints that have zero merit,” communications director Taylor Budowich said on Twitter. “The Democrat Party has become a dumpster fire of cheap gimmicks.”
