With White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders stepping down from her position on Friday, June 28, the White House is naming Stephanie Grisham to be Sanders’ replacement.

First Lady Melania Trump was the first to break the news on Twitter, Tuesday morning.

“I am pleased to announce [Stephanie Grisham] will be the next Press Secretary and Communications Director” Melania tweeted.

Grisham has been a close associate of the Trump family and has earned their trust while serving as Melania Trump’s spokeswoman during the past two years. She is also one of the few remaining holdovers from President Trump’s 2016 campaign team.

Grisham is known for being very organized and skillful in handling media relations for the first lady. She is expected to continue her role in support of Melania, as well as the president, for at least the time being.

Grisham’s first assignment will be to travel with the president and his staff to the G-20 Summit in Osaka, Japan, later this week.

Sarah Sanders announced her intention to step down as press secretary, last Friday in Orlando, Florida, when she spoke to a standing ovation at President Trump’s 2020 campaign rally. She parted with some glowing remarks for the president and all the administration has accomplished in its first two years.

“This has been truly the honor of a lifetime and one of the most incredible experiences anybody could ever imagine,” Sanders reflected. “And that’s because I’ve had the chance to be on the front row of history and watch you drastically change our country for the better.”

Sanders said she plans to take some time with her family, while leaving her future plans open.
