Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley praised former President Donald Trump for his “strong message” at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) and criticized the left-leaning media for inciting a civil war among Republican voters.

“Strong speech by President Trump about the winning policies of his administration and what the party needs to unite behind moving forward,” she wrote in a tweet on Monday, Mar. 1.

Her tweet came one day after Trump affirmed at the conference that he was not thinking of forming a new party and said that he will actively work to help Republicans win “a historic fight for the future of America.”

“With your help we will take back the House. We will win the Senate. And then a Republican president will make a triumphant return to the White House,” Trump said in his first public appearance since leaving the White House.

Trump said the speculation that he would start a new party is “fake news” from the liberal media designed to divide the Republican voters.

In her tweet, Haley also accused the left-leaning media of triggering a “GOP civil war” but said that it would not work.

“The liberal media wants a GOP civil war. Not gonna happen,” she wrote.

Haley was repeating what she said in a new op-ed last month in which she states that the liberal media is engaging in “a calculated strategy to pit conservatives against one another” by demanding that Republicans take strong positions one way or the other about Trump.

“It wants to stoke a nonstop Republican civil war. The media playbook starts with the demand that everyone pick sides about Donald Trump—either love or hate everything about him,” Haley wrote in the Wall Street Journal. “The moment anyone on the right offers the slightest criticism of the 45th president, the media goes berserk: Republicans are trying to have it both ways!”

Haley clarified that the anti-Trump media may draw attention, ratings, and clicks with their hatred and polarization, but “what’s good for them is bad for America.”

According to the former diplomat, if the media succeeds in stirring up the division, the Republican Party would “dissolve into endless warfare, ensuring extreme liberal government for years to come.”
