A clinician predicts the deadly disease may force everyone to cover their noses and mouths into next year.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, who directs the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, can imagine every American still having to wear a face mask well into 2022 to help contain the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Virus.

“I think it is possible that that is the case,” he said in a video shared on Twitter. “Because it depends on the level of dynamics of virus sets in the community, and that is really important.”

Fauci wants to wait until there are practically no new infections before recommending that President Joe Biden and the Democrats ease physical distancing restrictions.

“I want it to keep going down to a baseline that’s so low that there is virtually no threat, not no, it will never be zero but a minimal, minimal threat that you will be exposed to someone who is infected,” he said. “When it goes way down, and the overwhelming majority of the people in the population are vaccinated, then I would feel comfortable saying you know we need to pull back on the masks—we do not need to have masks.”

Fauci admitted it could take the Biden administration years to fight the pandemic, potentially between two and three years before the nation finally returns to a pre-pandemic lifestyle.

“It really depends what you mean by normality,” he said. “As we get into the fall and the winter, by the end of the year, I agree with the president completely that we will be approaching a degree of normality–it may or may not be precisely the way it was in November of 2019.”

However, even he admits neither he nor Biden has a specific timeframe for reopening the United States.

“If normality means exactly the way things were before we had this happen to us, I mean I cannot predict that,” he said. “We do not know; we do not know.”

As a possible sign of what’s ahead, Fauci previously conceded he could not guarantee the safety of Americans who presented themselves at polling booths for the Nov. 3, 2020 election.

“I cannot guarantee it [would be safe to vote,]” he said according to Fox News. “I do not want to be the pessimistic person [but] there is always the possibility as we get into next fall and the beginning of early winter that we could see a rebound … I hope we do not have a rebound that would make this very difficult.”
