Anaheim is the third destination to decline hosting an event organized by Republican Reps. Matt Gaetz (Fla.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.).

The America First Rally was canceled just hours before scheduled to begin on July 17. City spokesman Mike Lyster claimed people would be hurt.

“The City of Anaheim shared public safety concerns with the operator, and those concerns are shared by the operator,” Lyster said in a statement. “As a city, we respect free speech but also have a duty to call out speech that does not reflect our city and its values.”

The latest rejection represents the third time the same rally was canceled in the Golden State.

The event was first canceled on July 9, at the Pacific Hills Banquet and Event Center in Laguna Hills of Orange County. Venue manager Javad Mirtavoosi said he blocked the event as soon as he learned who the main speakers were.

Gaetz and Greene moved the rally to the Riverside Convention Center, in Riverside County. The event was rescheduled for 6 p.m. on July 17.

However, authorities shut it down because “this was a divisive issue in our community,” and the GOP lawmakers are the “antithesis of everything Riverside stands for,” according to a joint statement from Riverside Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson (D) and Mayor Pro Tempore Gaby Plascencia (I).

Both GOP lawmakers suspect multiple “radical” and “communist” Democrats are responsible for making it hard to book venues.

In February, the Democrats ousted Greene from her House Committee assignments for continuing to support the previous president, and circulating different theories about 9/11 and QAnon.

They were also unhappy with the Republican congresswoman’s social media history. They forced Greene to apologize for allegedly inviting an execution of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and comparing the U.S. Senate’s mask mandate to the Holocaust according to the Orange County Register.

Gaetz has faced different attacks to his reputation including alleged sex trafficking and buying gifts for a minor. The Republican strongly denies any wrongdoing, and a subsequent investigation found there was a lack of evidence.

Both are loyal Trump supporters who believe the 2020 election was rigged, and Capitol riot on January 6 is not the former president’s fault.

In response to the cancel culture of Californian cities, the pair held a “Free Speech Peaceful Protest” outside Riverside City Hall on July 17, according to the Press Enterprise.
