On 15 May, Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the Chinese National People’s Congress, held a video conference meeting with Valentina Matviyenko, Chairman of the Russian Federation Council. Matviyenko plans to visit China in the autumn of 2022.
CGTN reported that during the meeting, Li proposed a relationship based on the principles of non-alignment, non-confrontation, and non-targeting of third parties with endogenous solid dynamics and independent values between the two countries.
He said, “Strengthening of all-round strategic cooperation between China and Russia is in the interests of the two countries. Moreover, it will make the world more stable and predictable.”
Matviyenko replied to Li with a promise to visit China this Autumn. She noted that their two countries remain firm in further strengthening and expanding ties despite unprecedented external pressures.
Amid many conflicts related to Ukraine and Taiwan, the upcoming meetings of these two countries might become the globe’s new concern.
