Practicing the spiritual discipline of the Buddha School, Falun Gong, in China can mean years of persecution, torture, imprisonment, and even death. Such is the case of Li Wenming, an employee of a locomotive factory in Lanzhou, who suffered extreme torture and was illegally sentenced to 20 years in prison last August.
Li Wenming began practicing Falun Dafa (also called Falun Gong) in 1996. By then, the practice had become the most popular in China, its enormous physical and spiritual benefits shaking society. Li felt his health improve dramatically within a few days and decided to practice Falun Dafa seriously.
For a few years, Li Wenming was free to practice in the parks and squares of his hometown with other practitioners. But in 1999, the then-leader of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), dictator Jiang Zemin, decided to ban Falun Gong and launched a campaign of persecution that ended Li’s peaceful life.
From that moment on, Li Wenming’s life changed forever and became a nightmare that never seemed to end. He was persecuted, tortured, and illegally arrested about four times. Li suffered (he still suffers) the worst tortures. In one of the arrests, the CCP guards tied him to an iron chair, placed a helmet on his head, and every 5 minutes began to tighten the screws. The pain was so unbearable that his whole body trembled, and it penetrated his heart.
Despite the torture, Li Wenming did not renounce his Falun Dafa beliefs and continued to practice. In August 2002, along with other practitioners, he tapped into the Chinese TV signal to tell citizens the truth about the cruel persecution they were experiencing.
It was a brave and remarkable feat, considering the CCP’s robust surveillance system. Li and the other Falun Gong practitioners were able to broadcast for half an hour the truth to all the citizens of Lanzhou and elsewhere.
Li Wenming continues to be illegally detained and it is unknown where he is serving his sentence.
Jiang Zemin, the communist dictator who fought against God and lost
China has always been characterized by its wisdom and 5000-year-old culture, which has provided the people (and also the world) with profound spiritual beliefs based on the teachings of the Buddha and Dao Schools.
However, since the CCP seized power in 1949, it has put enormous effort into annihilating moral and spiritual beliefs. Communism has always wanted to destroy man’s connection to the divine.
During Jiang Zemin’s regime, Falun Gong appeared in Chinese society, sparking a profound revival of spiritual beliefs and traditions.
Falun Dafa is an ancient system of mind and body cultivation of the Buddha School, based on the teachings of the principles of Truth, Benevolence, and Tolerance, which, combined with a series of 5 qigong exercises, raise moral standards and bring about superior health.
Introduced in China in 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi, the practice became the most popular throughout the country. Still, while it benefited millions of people, it aroused the jealousy and anger of Jiang Zemin who saw the practice as a threat to the political stability of his regime.
A few months before officially ordering the persecution, on April 25, Jiang wrote a letter addressed to politburo members and other leaders. Among its lines was revealed the dark motive he had for initiating a genocide that continues to this day. In one part of the message, Jiang wrote, “Can the Marxism, materialism and atheism that we Communists have really not win against the theory of the Falun Gong advocates? If that were true, it would really be a joke!”
Thus, his ambition to control any “force” led him to launch unprecedented persecution against Falun Dafa practitioners. In July 1999, Jiang Zemin set up the entire state apparatus, creating the dreaded 610 Office to persecute, torture and murder anyone who dared to follow his beliefs in practice. Since then, thousands of people have been killed, tortured, imprisoned, and even become victims of forced organ harvesting for the sinister trafficking business.
However, Jiang Zemin lost his futile battle against the divine.
Falun Gong became even more entrenched in China, with many people choosing to die rather than renounce their beliefs. The practice expanded and spread worldwide, exposing Jiang Zemin’s macabre crimes against believers for all to see.
Today Falun Gong or Falun Dafa is practiced freely and openly in more than 120 countries.
