Chinese mainland media The Paper reported a mountain collapse occurred in Zhijin County, Bijie City, Guizhou Province at about 12:00 on May 8.

A search and rescue team was deployed to the scene right afterward. Three elderly from two families have lost contact in the incident.

The rescue team’s investigation reported that the rock amount that collapsed in the accident covered about 25,000 square meters.

Meanwhile, 10,000 square meters of residual rocks remain on the mountain. These rocks drop sporadically, making the area still in danger.

The mountain collapse in Guizhou Province is just one of the significant disasters that many Chinese provinces have recently experienced.

On May 9, 2022, severe rains hit Guangnan County in Yunnan Province, causing trees to topple and destroy electrical poles and guardrails.

Meanwhile, ten places in Guangdong issued red warnings for heavy rain with over 100 millimeters of rain within 3 hours on May 11.
