Recently, Dingxiang district, Shanxi province officially announced a report on a positive case of contact concerning a delivery worker. The investigation demonstrates the difficulties migrant workers have during the COVID-19 outbreak.
On November 6, the Office of Disease Prevention and Control of Dingxiang District, Shanxi Province released a report on a person who had close contact with a positive case. The close contact was a delivery worker, and the report shows that he left home at 6:20 a.m. on November 2 for the Dingxiang district to pick up food orders from online shopping platform Meituan,” and completed the last order of the day at 11:00 pm. In nearly 17 hours of work, he delivered 65 orders, and it included a 10-minute breakfast break and a nucleic acid test.
This is a special report during the pandemic period. This means that when a confirmed case occurs in a city, big data checks all confirmed cases and reports periodically on the data, and asks those who came into contact with the delivery worker to get a nucleic acid test. For the government this is just data collection, but for the public, this kind of investigation has a profound effect on people’s lives.
The Sound of Hope newspaper quoted some netizens. One said, “During pandemics, if you don’t die from fatigue, you could die from hunger. If you get sick, you could also die because you won’t get treated.”
Some netizens are also worried that after the delivery person becomes a close contact, he will be quarantined for 7 days, which also means that he won’t get paid.
