During the 20th National Congress of the CCP, a forest fire broke out in Xi’an County, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province. However, up to now, the forest fire has yet to be completely extinguished. Some netizens said that houses in rural areas were severely damaged, with at least two firefighters killed, causing social concern.
Previously, on October 17, a forest fire broke out in Xi’an County, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, and the fire got out of control. A video posted on the internet showed mountains burning bright red at midnight on October 17. Many villages and towns were also engulfed in flames, and houses were burned down. Due to complicated mountain roads, the villagers spontaneously put out the fires before the firefighters arrived.
China’s Caixin newspaper reported on October 25 that a forest fire in Banziqiao village, Menlouxia commune, Xintian district broke out on October 17. The fire continued to spread over the following days. Officials have yet to confirm whether the fire has been completely extinguished.
On the morning of October 19, after the village was lifted from lockdown, one man returning home found the outside wall of his house had been burned black, and the windows and sandalwood trees planted around the house were burned. (Video)
The forest fire in Xi’an, Yongzhou killed two firefighters, Sina reported.
Since the incident happened at a sensitive time, the Chinese authorities may have tried to block relevant news.

In fact, during the 20th National Congress, in addition to Xintian county, Shuangpai, Yongzhou city, Hunan province, there were forest fires in Guilin in Guangxi province, Wenzhou in Zhejiang province, and Ganzhou in Jiangxi province.
