A China Boeing jet crashed on Monday, March 21, with 132 people on board. The US sanctioned some Chinese officials for human rights abuses on the same day.

Regarding this, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying posted on Twitter the next day, “When the #Chinese people are pained by the tragedy of passenger flight MU5735, the #US Secretary of State is still spreading lies about “genocide” in China. How callous!”

She also accused the US of committing “real genocide against Native Americans” and “brutality against Iraqis & Afghans.”

In response, one user named Haoming replied, “When the Chinese people are pained by the tragedy of passenger flight MU5735, you are busy denying the accusation of genocide, which is totally irrelevant to this catastrophe. Shows what you really care.”
